Avera Health

Avera Health has named officers for its board of directors: chair, Dr. Luis Rojas, clinical vice president of the Avera oncology service line and gynecologic oncologist with Avera Medical Group; and vice chair, Sister Penny Bingham, a member of the Benedictine Sisters of Yankton who serves on the staff at the Benedictine Peace Center in Yankton. Wayne Kindle, superintendent of the Yankton School District, is a new board member.

Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center

Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center has named officers for its board of trustees: chair, Tom Biegler, president and CEO of Regency Hotel Management; and vice chair, Pat Costello, vice president of Schoeneman’s Building Materials Center. Dr. Benjamin Solomon, a medical oncologist with Avera Medical Group Hematology and Oncology and an assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, is a new board member.

Dakota State University

Ashley Podhradsky, vice president for research and economic development at Dakota State University, has been named to a specialized task force for the Engineering Research Visioning Alliance. The task force, Engineering R&D Solutions for Unhackable Infrastructure, will look at the role humans play in potential solutions, machine learning and quantum security developments, designing trustworthy systems and system metrics, and built-in resilience option. The task force will create a final report that will be available in December.

Central Payments, Pathward Financial

American Banker has included two Sioux Falls women on its second annual Most Influential Women in Payments, Next list, which recognizes those younger than 40 who have demonstrated a strong talent for leadership and an expertise in their respective fields.

Shannon Huether is the vice president of product management and implementation at Central Payments. She has worked in the payments industry for 10 years.

Nancy Schempp, senior vice president, business operations, partner services at Pathward, formerly MetaBank. She has worked in the payments industry for 17 years.

First Interstate Bank

First Interstate Bank has promoted Kristi Metzger to wealth management regional manager. Metzger has been with the bank for 14 years, most recently serving as a senior wealth adviser.

Attorney Andy Grocott has joined Goosmann Law Firm. His areas of practice include business and estate planning. Grocott is a 10-year military veteran whose experience includes procuring and administering multimillion-dollar government contracts, commodities, services and construction projects for the Air Force. He also has reviewed and administered over $1 billion in foreign and domestic irrevocable and revocable trusts.

The Southeast Technical College Foundation has named new officers for its board of directors: chair, Kari Karst, CEO of BX Civil & Construction; and vice chair, Tony Nour, senior vice president of relationship banking at First Premier Bank. New board members are Christine Erickson, president of the South Dakota Trucking Association; Karla Haugen, vice president of human resources – operations and strategic services at Sanford Health; Brian Jans, president and owner of Jans Corp.; and Mark Mickelson, president of Mickelson & Co.
